 Chef of the Year  

 

Congratulations Chef Michael Chapman of Pacino's Food and Spirits of Escanaba. Chef Michael was crowned 2008 Chef of the Year Monday June 30 at the Island Resort and Casino. Thanks to 2007 C.O.Y. Gina Rodeghiero and staff for a stunning 9 course meal. Also thanks to Bink's Wine and Beverages for the wine pairings for the meal. Congratulations to the other nominees Chef Derek Estes, Chef James Blackmon and Chef Jeremy Pomeroy, CCC. Look forward to Chef Michael Chapman's C.O.Y. Dinner next year.  

  

*CONGRATULATIONS

*Chef John Romps, CCC of The Stonehouse in Escanaba. Chef Johnny recently completed and recieve his ACF certification as Chef de Cuisine. He is the 1st CCC in the Chapter.

 

*Chef Jeremy Pomeroy,CCC of the Island Resort and Casino also recently recieved his ACF certification as Chef de Cuisine. The 2nd CCC in the Chapter.

 

For those members seeking certification, Chef Jeff Igel of FVTC in Appleton,WI is a wonderful host of the practical exams. His staff and facility are very accomidating. He plans to host the next exam in January of '09

Memorium

 

Members of the ACF Upper Michigan Chapter are morning the loss of one of it's members. Mr. David Mileski recently passed away. Our condolences to the Mr. Mileski's family and friends.

 

 CULINARY SECRETS COMPETION/

REINHART FOOD SHOW

 

Congratulations to Chef Nathan Mileski of NMU who successfully defended his title as Culinary Secrets Champion. The competion is a friendly, fun, and stressful cooking battle between 8 chefs. It is a Mystery Basket style competition utilizing the vendors and their offerings, the best way possible, in 30 minutes. 2nd place was awarded to The Island Resort and Casino's Chef Todd LaFave. Chef James Blackmon of Koinonia Cafe earned 3rd. Other competitors included Chefs Chris Kibit, Bradley Pepin, Jeremy Pomeroy, Chadd Wellman and Daniel Zdroik. Thanks to judges Rae Jordan, Kristina Peltier and Eric Juchamich.
